Living, Learning & Sustainability
Hands-on, sustainability-focused learning helps students develop creativity, leadership and responsibility while making a positive impact on campus and beyond. These experiences give students the chance to apply classroom knowledge, solve real-world challenges and build the confidence to make meaningful contributions.
The Terp Campus ReUse Store and Terp Farm turn this vision into action. The ReUse store offers gently used household items, clothing, textbooks and essentials while diverting nearly 19 tons of usable goods from the landfill since 2021. Each item recirculated eases financial burdens and restores dignity, fostering a culture of care. The Terp Farm grows produce for campus dining, provides food for students in need and offers hands-on learning in sustainable agriculture. Terps lead community garden projects, implement ecologically mindful food initiatives and gain practical skills that complement their academic studies.
Your contribution enables these programs to continue to grow, building a Maryland community that values sustainability and conscientious living. Gifts fund the ReUse store’s transformation into a 3,000-square-foot hub with dedicated staff and a paid student team. They also sustain Terp Farm operations and support student leadership stipends. With your investment, more Terps can access essentials, develop skills and participate in programs that strengthen both their communities and the environment.
