Engagement
A vibrant campus community is essential to student growth and learning. Experiences outside the classroom help students broaden their perspectives, develop leadership skills and connect with the world around them. For many students, these experiences turn curiosity into confidence, challenge into growth and belonging into action.
The Unity Center embodies this vision. Designed with input from students, the center provides a welcoming space to connect, learn and celebrate the richness of campus life. Located in Cole Field House, it features five themed lounges, a multipurpose room and an accessible kitchen. Each space reflects the culture it honors, encouraging shared learning and fostering a sense of connection for all Terps. Your support allows the Unity Center to prosper as a hub where connection, engagement and community flourish.
Student Affairs is also reimagining Maryland’s fraternity and sorority communities through the 2025 Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Transformation Initiative. This work is focused on creating a stronger, more inclusive fraternity and sorority experience that values accountability, collaboration and well-being. Across all four councils—National Pan-Hellenic, Multicultural Greek, Interfraternity and Panhellenic—students, alumni and staff are working together to drive meaningful change. Your investment powers that progress, giving chapters the tools they need to ensure every member feels safe, supported and included.
Investment strengthens our capacity to foster a sense of belonging and leadership across campus. It enables the Unity Center to host cultural programs, guest speakers and workshops that celebrate diversity. It also helps us sustain adaptable spaces that ensure all students feel welcome. In addition, it supports the continued progress of the FSL Transformation Initiative, so that Maryland’s fraternity and sorority community reflects the values of inclusion, accountability and shared growth.
Your generosity allows Maryland students to take part in a dynamic campus community, embrace their identities and emerge as confident, engaged citizens.
