Scholarships & Graduate Fellowships
To become a Top 10 public university, the University of Maryland needs to recruit and enroll the nation’s best applicants. Need- and merit-based undergraduate scholarships not only make Maryland more appealing than ever, they also open doors to a Maryland education for qualified students with financial need.
Though the university has offered historic support for in-state, full-time, Pell Grant-eligible Terps, there are still challenges to closing the gap between their other financial aid and the cost of tuition and fees. Many students across our campus continue to have unmet need, upwards of $4,250 on average. Scholarships of all kinds will close these gaps and offer new generations of students the leg up a Maryland education brings.
Endowed graduate fellowships also create lasting impact by attracting outstanding scholars from across the nation and around the world who bring fresh energy, drive and ideas that accelerate the university’s research enterprise.
Beyond financial relief, this support gives students the time and freedom to collaborate with faculty on high-risk, high-reward research, grasp exciting opportunities to study in the field and attend professional conferences. Their achievements—both at UMD and in their future careers—elevate our reputation as we aspire to become a top-10 public research university.
