Why now

Education in the United States is undergoing transformative change. New realities such as persistent educator shortages, societal inequalities, barriers to literacy, advances in artificial intelligence and political polarization are challenging teaching and learning in our schools and communities. To adapt and thrive educators must find novel solutions and new methods to address these challenges and better serve their communities.

The College of Education is poised to meet this moment. We are preparing the next generation of equity—and culturally minded educators, counselors, psychologists, researchers, administrators, policymakers and leaders. We are developing creative solutions that are informed and guided by the needs of educators, schools and communities. Lastly, we are shaping state and national policy on PreK-16 education and the challenges it faces.

In short, we are transforming education for good!

Built in 1964, our building is outdated for modern teaching and research. Newly designed spaces will nurture collective learning, collaboration and quality interactions between faculty, students, staff, and the community.
