The Forward campaign is a call to The Fearless—all who are aligned with our mission and ready to bring unprecedented transformation to our campus, our state and our world. With philanthropic support from our Terp community, we will work to make real change for real people, inspire tomorrow’s trailblazers and help to address the world’s most pressing problems.

What is a campaign?

A campaign is a focused effort to raise a specific amount of money for a set of defined purposes over a specified period of time.

How will the Forward campaign contribute to the campus community overall?

The Forward campaign will accelerate the University of Maryland’s momentum and impact. It will propel the university’s strategic commitments, strengthen our university’s reputation and drive unprecedented transformation for our university and world. Fueled by the generosity of our Terp community, the campaign will support tomorrow’s trailblazers, promote bold and brave solutions to the world’s most pressing problems and spur the creation of stronger communities.

How can students be involved with the campaign?

Students can help raise awareness about the campaign by sharing their stories and experiences of how UMD helps them move Forward

Students can make a gift to the college, school, unit, program or other cause they specify. They can choose to give to a general purpose—like the UMD scholarship fund—or to the many other existing funds at UMD that are meaningful to them. They can also participate in university-wide fundraising efforts such as Giving Day. Every gift, of every size, moves us Forward.

What is the campaign’s impact on current students? How will it affect future generations?

Private philanthropy propels UMD to achieve excellence and impact for the public good. With this support, UMD can move Forward for Tomorrow’s Trailblazers by expanding access to world-class education, Forward for Bold and Brave Solutions by pushing frontiers in emerging fields and making groundbreaking discoveries and Forward for Stronger Communities by uniting to do good on our campus and beyond.
